CHECK IT OUT.....

Library construction has finally begun creating excitement and anticipation among local residents and patrons. Aware of our reduced funding and necessary cutbacks to balance our budget, many have asked what they can do to help. Currently we have order forms available for memorial sidewalk pavers at the circulation desk as well as information regarding our "adopt a magazine" program. Your continued support is very much needed.

New children's programs for 2010 are starting. Preschool storytime, for ages 3 to 6 will begin on Tuesday, February 2nd at 11:00 A.M. and continue each Tuesday through April 13th. Each storytime will include a variety of stories, music, games, and crafts. After school storytimes for kids in K through 6 will be held each Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. beginning February 3rd and ending on April 14th. These programs will include stories, crafts, and games.

The theme for our 2010 Summer Reading Program is "Make a Splash READ!" Starting Tuesday, June 15th at 11:00 A.M., students K through 8th grade will have "oceans of fun" for six weeks. Librarians from all over the county will be presenting programs filled with stories, skits, music, and games. On July 20th we'll have a big "Library Luau!" For more information please check our Youth Services page and click on "Spring/Summer 2010 Newsletter".

Also, check out the ALA's list of great websites for kids!  Another site to check out is KnowItNow24x7. Under our "Online References" you will find the tab to take you to the place on the Web where Ohioans can get live help from a librarian for finding resources for homework or research on any topic, suggestions for good books to read, or answers to satisfy your general curiosity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Ohio Benefit Bank is a free service that provides a more simple process for low and moderate-income Ohioans to access work supports such as tax credits and public benefits. This service can also check eligibility and complete applications for Food Stamps (Nutrition Assistance Program), Ohio Works First, Health Coverage (Medicaid), Child Care Subsidies, WIC, HEAP, Prescription Assistance and others. We have brochures giving the contact information along with additional services that are available.
